Watched right up to the point where he introduced Nancy as the best Speaker of the House ever. Had to turn it off for health reasons.
I didn’t watch. I can’t even watch the coverage of it.
Nothing worth watching. Everything Gropin’ Joe could possibly have said has been speculated on for a week or more by all manner of Talking Heads. Everything he actually said is being picked apart and analyzed today, syllable by syllable for content and intent, as is Governor Huckabee’s rebuttal, and will be for yet another week or more.
And for what? Did it change anything? Will it change ANYTHING?
The Senate and House will probably accomplish little or nothing this session. They will hold hearings, question witnesses under oath about all manner of uselessness that will go nowhere. Somber politicians will fill every available moment of broadcast time on the evening news and weekend talk shows, and when the dust settles, we will pretty much be right where we were on January 1st.
Sometimes inertia is a good thing. The less they accomplish, the better off the rest of us will be in the long run.
