    Only thing I can think of is they are Buying the Placeholder if Trump either doesn’t get the nomination or something worse happens to him, which They would happily bankroll. Pray for our best president, Donald Trump.

      Yep,
      that’s the version that concerns me the most, too

        I think someone in the know has told Nikki PDT will be “dealt with” opening the path for her.

        Which means another four years of Joe because there’s no way I’ll vote for another neocon. And I doubt I’m alone thinking this way. I’m done with voting for, “better than” because the policies of our country need to be radically changed, not just trimmed around the edges, which is the best I think we can expect from dear Nikki.

          If Trump is “dealt with,” Nikki will face torches and pitchforks;
          but, yeah, she may believe in your scenario

    After Saturday’s embarrassment, for the life of me I can’t see what she’s hanging onto. Her donors are already running for the tall grass. Waiting for yet another second-place finish seems to me to be a sure sign of mental illness.

    If something happens to The Donald, she is well-placed to step up and take over without wasting any money (well, not more than usual in politics.) Who else might? The other ex-candidates she’s already proven herself to be better than? If Trump falls, the job is hers. So why risk p*ssing the big money people off by beating a dead horse? Trump-Halley managed to bring out twice as many voters as the 2000 election. Haley is campaigning on the idea that 40% of voters say they won’t vote for Donald Trump. But they won’t vote for her, either, and she’s got a solid lock on Second Place, times three.

    If she goes public and accepts defeat gracefully and stops all this “I’ll never vote for Trump” b.s., I see a 2028 run for the Presidency in her future, and a possible selection as Secretary of State in the next Trump administration. Her campaign money right now is better spent on the under card, where the RNC needs all the help it can get.
