Here’s something considerably different from the drivel I usually post.
It’s purely instructive.
If you’re interested in how firearms laws and adjudication happens
(and there are a lot of important cases being dealt with these days),
this 14-min video is the best, clearest example I’ve seen of how the
constitutionality of jackass gun laws gets handled in the courts.
No, it’s not for everybody; but it’s interesting to me*, so here it is.
______
* I considered law school after retiring from the AF in order to get into
this very subject, but my natural laziness and judicial aversion won out.
I also enjoyed learning and teaching the laws as a concealed-carry instructor.
Re: Constitutionality
I think every bill proposed should have a line in the heading with the section of the constitution that supports it.
My understanding is that this ruling only affects the CA laws and not the nearly identical laws in other states. Hope this quickly moves through the 9th circuit and SCOTUS to make this universal among the states. NY also has ammo background checks and importation bans. It is simply backdoor disarmament. A law abiding citizen carrying an empty handgun is simply a law abiding citizen carrying an expensive rock.
You worked for the ATF? My father did, too, from the late 50s through the early 70s. He was involved primarily in chasing bootleggers in North Carolina; the “F” in ATF was, I believe, added rather late in his career.
If you mean me,
no, I meant AF => USAF
Sorry, I initially read “AF” as “ATF”. My mind apparently hasn’t got anything better to do than to add random letters to acronyms.
*heh*
We’ve all been there.
I’d delete these comments;
but my neighbors, here in NC, now know there’s a revenooor’s kid on here
