No, Otis didn’t say or mean that, back in 1771;
but I kind’a wish he had.

    They did set it up that way.
    That’s why they needed a Constitutional amendment to start an income tax.

    Lincoln… first income tax, to pay for the civil war…
    Lincoln… first military draft, to fight the civil war…
    Lincoln… suspended habeas corpus and imprisoned people who disagreed about the civil war indefinitely without a trial…
    Lincoln… freed the slaves in the states in rebellion against the union, but not in union states…
    Lincoln… created the first unconstitutional department of government, usda…

      Suspension of habeas corpus constitutional in a time of rebellion.
      No authority to free slaves in Union states, but able to deal with rebel “contraband.”
      War is all Hell.

        Oops,
        “contraband” applied to escaped and captured slaves, not emancipated ones.

          one could argue that after the emancipation proclamation that any escaped slave from a state in rebellion against the union was an emancipated one as would a slave captured in a state in rebellion against the union have been emancipated

            Yeah, it’s not in my wheelhouse.
            I consider that whole vile issue over with and settled at great cost in blood.
            We inherited the world they made, not their guilt or victimhood.
