Which raises the quadriennial question: Now that communication technology in America has advanced (for various values of “advanced”) beyond foot and horseback travel between rural enclaves, why is there – in the present instance – 77 days between “election” and “inauguration”? If my math is correct, the shortest possible interval is 74 days (not including the end date). Which is better than doing it in March, but, seemingly, not much better.
I recognize that a new incoming administration needs time to recruit and get its stuff together, but I’d hope that anyone seeking Presidential office would have engaged in at least some basic planning prior to throwing his or her hat in the ring. Doing it too much sooner than 01/20 gets it into the Thanksgiving-Christmas-Chanukah-Kwanza holiday melange but I don’t see anything preventing election cert from being done by 11/25 – except the usual Democrat Malfeasance (TM) – the new Congress sworn in by 12/10, and Prez inaug by 12/20. Democrats would complain, but that’s their default setting.
These 77 days are very important!
It gives democrats 77 days to find busloads of Christine Blasey Fords and do practice runs as to “who do we want to have done what when and to whom”.
Get in, sit down, shut up. And fasten our seat belt!!
…and hold my drink!
Every year since 2000 has been crazier than the last.
I’m wondering how 2025 is going to keep that streak going.
I’ll hold my own drink. Gonna want it.
New Years doesn’t start until noon 20 Jan when Nasty Brain Dead Biden and all his rancid enablers and staff are gone.
