Lots of stories out there, so I just scratched the bad link.
For anyone who has been in that abysmal, gray concrete building – or worse, ever had to deal with the agency in any capacity – “HUD” is not “Housing and Urban Development” but “Hopeless, Useless and Depressing.” (Lyndon Johnson earns the posthumous distinction of beating Jimmy Carter to the punch by creating HUD, but no president since Johnson has earned any distinction by keeping it; and while the same may be said for a multitude of federal agencies, HUD was, and is, an easy target because there’s such paucity of excuse for its existence, much less for its performance)
One may search in vain for the words “housing” or “mortgage” wthin the U.S. Constitution, so why does HUD, along with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Agriculture’s Farm Bureau loans, et al even exist? That Trump & Co. is retaining any of HUD’S services and not bringing in Jack Loizeaux’s kids to turn the building into basketball-size reef parts, constitutes in my mind a Failure of Will and Weakness of Mission.
